Consumer Sentiment Survey
SERI's quarterly survey on consumer sentiments.
The Consumer Sentiment Index (CSI) of Samsung Economic Research Institute rose to 48.1 in the third quarter from 47.3 in the previous quarter. It was the fourth consecutive gain in the index, which measures attitudes on current and expected standard of living and economic conditions as well as purchases of durable goods. Despite a slow economic recovery weighing on consumer sentiment, low inflation appears to be brightening sentiment. Still, the CSI has remained below 50, its baseline, since the first quarter of 2011, or 11 consecutive quarters.
