Increasing Energy Consumption

□ China's annual consumption of energy has soared in the past decade.

- Consumption levels of key energy such as fossil fuel and oil in 2009 were more than doubled that of 2000.

• Yearly growth rate of carbon consumption from 2002 to 2009 stood steady at around 10%.

• The growth rate of oil consumption slowed slightly in 2005 and 2006, but resumed its climb to reach about 10% in 2009.
