As production in the construction industry and public administration jumped, the country's overall industrial output climbed 1.6% from a month ago in April, said Statistics Korea. This is a reversal from the previous month's 1.8% drop. According to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (MOSF), construction increased thanks to sales of newly built homes in new cities and the government's infrastructure spending. Public administration production expanded as the government spending, which was postponed due to the cabinet reshuffle, was executed as planned. Compared to the same month last year, industrial output rose 3.7%, shifting from the 0.6% fall logged in the month before. The main drivers were the services and construction sectors.
